In honor of my sorority’s founder’s day, I thought I would write a little something about Greek life :)
At some point of your life in the USA you will run into someone wearing a shirt or jacket with Greek letters on it and you may just ask yourself: what are those???
In the USA, Greek is a shorter term for Greek letter organization. There is pretty much a Greek letter organization for everyone out there: Hispanics, African Americans, Asians, Caucasians, social life driven people, community service driven people, educators, band members, homosexuals, religious people, business driven people, mommies, student athletes, track athletes, and the list goes on…
You can usually tell the members apart by the paraphernalia they wear or carry, by the color(s) they wear, by their handsign, or by their call. Each organization comes with different costs, goals, values, and requirements. If you are interested in joining one, I suggest you do a lot of research to make sure it is the right fit for you as it usually requires a lifetime commitment. When doing research though, please use your best judgment as some of the things you will find on the World Wide Web could be totally out of place.
You can always ask members for some information on what they do, what motivated them to join that particular organization and what it takes to become a member. Feel free to share your questions, comments and Greek experience (s) below.
Live Life Fully,
France Mkb
